About United Way

 

United Way Mission Statement:

Our mission is to build a stronger community by investing in agency programs that help people improve their lives by providing health and human services.

When you give to the United Way, the impact of your gift is multiplied as it works together with donations from thousands of other Cortland County residents and funds services that help hundreds of community residents, from all walks of life, throughout the year.

An Allocations Committee, comprising 18 community volunteers, tours each agency and meets with them one on one to ensure programs being funded are meeting the needs of the most people.

No other charity is as comprehensive in meeting local needs than United Way for Cortland County. One gift benefits people in need through programs offered by 12 local member agencies and funded by United Way contributions. Conducting one annual appeal on behalf of all those organizations reduces fundraising costs, ensuring more dollars go to provide services.
