United Way was made for tough times like these.  This year, many

people faced crisis for the first time, and other vulnerable individuals slipped further into poverty.  We continue to meet the unprecedented challenges of the past year because we are stronger together than any one organization. We bring people to the table to solve problems, and then roll up our sleeves and get to work.

During the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, we collaborated with over 30 areas businesses and 20 non-profit agencies to ensure that money raised was turned around as quickly as possible to those in need.

But the fight is not over.

Beyond response and recovery, we already know the need will be greater, and more sustained, than ever before. The tough work that is needed to help Cortland County emerge stronger is the very work United Way does every day.  United Way takes the long view, and is in it for the long haul, bringing people together to help communities recover, rebuild, and thrive.

  • We bring people to the table to collaborate on long-term solutions.

  • We help feed those facing food insecurity.

  • We prepare children for success in school, work, and life.

  • We connect those in financial distress with resources to learn new job skills, further their education, and get and keep good jobs.
